What is Pukkelpop 2021?

Pukkelpop is one of the largest multi-genre music festivals of Europe that is held annually near Hasselt, Belgium. This event was founded by Humanistische Jongeren van Leopoldsburg (a youth organization) with the aim of having a musical festival that showcased progressive & contemporary music.

The huge music festival had humble beginnings in 1985 as a one-day event followed by the second edition in 1988. However, this festival has been conducted regularly since 1990 and has hosted several notable acts by artists like Sonic Youth, Rihanna, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Daft Punk, Iron Maiden, Eminem amongst others. Nowadays, the world-famous event draws crowds numbering around 180,000!


Interesting Fact: The Dutch Word Pukkel literally means “Pimple” in English.
